What Is Excessive Sweating?
Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, can have many causes. It can be a warning sign of such health disorders as diabetes, infection, or thyroid problems. It’s also appears more often in people that are overweight or very much out of shape physically.
However, most of the time, excessive sweating is nothing to worry about even though it may be annoying. Following are some reasons of excessive sweating that you may want to see your doctor about:
1. Know the difference between excessive sweating and just sweating more than other people. Sweating is an individual thing and you just may happen to sweat more than some people. This is not a sign of trouble unless it’s something new. Sweating is your body’s normal reaction to working hard.
2. Sweating for no apparent reason is something that should be checked out by your doctor. Hyperhidrosis occurs when there’s no appropriate reason to sweat, yet you’re dripping wet.
3. If you wake up at night in a cold sweat or your sheets and pillowcase are damp in the morning, you may be suffering from night sweats. If this is a new thing for you, your doctor should be consulted about it.
4. Sweating that happens all over your body is a reason to speak to your doctor. Typically, people produce sweat from their underarms, face, head, hands, feet or groin. If you’re sweating everywhere, it’s time to find out why.
5. Asymmetrical sweating, or sweating only from one side of your body, needs to be checked out.
6. You should let your doctor know if your sweating suddenly gets worse.
7. To suddenly develop excessive sweating in your middle ages or older isn’t normal so talk with your doctor.
8. If you’re taking a new medication and develop excessive sweating, let your doctor know.
9. Excessive sweating that comes with other symptoms like insomnia, fatigue, cough, increased thirst or increased urination can be serious symptoms.
